The looks blocks conrol what your sprite looks like and make it say something and show or hide. Here are the blocks that are used the most.
If you want your sprite to look like they are talking - like in a cartoon we use the "say ---" block or "Say for seconds" blocks. This tells it to say something (without sound) for a few seconds.
Now another cool thing you see in cartoons is the thinking bubbles - this is in scratch as well. The "think _____ for" and "for__seconds" blocks will have your sprite think something for a length of time!
Do you like hide and seek ? Scratch has the ability to get you to show and hide your sprite whenever you want! The blocks you use are
In the screenshow below I have two sprites in my story the cat and the dog. You can see in the dogs script I have dragged across and clicked on hide and you cannot see him on the stage beside the cat!
Switch costume to . This can change your sprites costume.
The graphic below shows you the costume changes for the balleraina sprite when snapped together it will look like she is dancing and jumping - type the scrpit I used into your create scratch project and have a look!
Next costume. This will change it change it to the next costume.
Change effect by . This will change the effect by a certain number of pixelated colour! or even better you can change the look of the image with fisheye, whirl, pixelate, mosaic, brightness or ghost! My video below will show you what all these effects do!
Set effect to . This will set the effect to a certain number of times and affect the speed it changes at too!
Clear graphic effects. This will clear any effects and bring your sprite back to its original form.
The change size by and the set size to %.
The go to front block. This block makes the sprite go in front of the sprites that were in front of it. Have a look at my video below to show you what I mean!
The go back layers. This makes the sprite go back a number of layers.
